Jewish lifecycles are a time of growth when we express ourselves through ritual. Cantor Barbra is available to serve your needs whether it is a Bar/ Bat Mitzvah for your child, your own wedding, or the naming of your child. On other occasions, Cantor Barbra conducts funerals and unveilings.

In early 2011, a group of families in the Glen Rock area proposed the idea of starting a Havurah. Havurah literally means, "fellowship." It also refers to joining or a circle. It is a circle of friends joined together in search of a spiritual connection. Usually, a Havurah conducts informal worship services in a home or in a larger meeting space.

In the summer of 2012, Cantor Barbra and a few of her families formed a committee to initiate a few Havurah events for the year. She created a Havdalah service with the assistance of her tutors, Barbara Schwartz and Galia Baruch.

This first Havurah event took place on January 26, 2013. About 55 adults and children from Glen Rock and surrounding communities participated in a meaningful Havdalah service to mark the end of the Sabbath. Several of her students led the community in prayers, blessings, and a skit based on the Torah portion of the afternoon. Afterwards, everyone had an opportunity to mingle, meeting other families while partaking in potluck snacks.

Cantor Barbra hopes to reach out to other student families throughout Bergen County to join her Havurah. The next Havurah will take place on Erev Shabbat, Friday, evening, May 10th at a private home in Glen Rock.
